Requirements to Become a Florida Notary

•You must be at least 18 years of age.
•You must be a legal resident of Florida. 
•If not a U.S. citizen, you must submit a recorded Declaration of Domicile. This affidavit is available at your county clerk's office.
•You must complete a three-hour notary education course if you are a first-time applicant.
•You must be able to read, write, and understand the English language. Subsection 117.01(1) Florida Statutes.

3 Easy Steps to follow:

1. After printing out the application have the "Affidavit of Character" filled out and signed by someone who has known you for one (1) year or longer and is not related to you. 
2. Sign and date the Notary Application and Bond. Wet Ink Signature is required.
3. First-time applicants must complete a notary education course. Please click on the link below to take a FREE ONLINE NOTARY COURSE. Once you have taken the Notary Course, do not forget to print out your Certificate of Completion, sign it and mail it along with the application

What to expect after you submit your notary application:
•Normal Processing time takes approximately 25 business days, unless, you pay for Rush Service, in which, the processing time is approximately 10 business days
•Once your application is approved, we will be sending notifications by email. Check your spam folder.
•Your commission certificate and notary seal will be sent to you by mail. 

What happens to my $7,500 bond? 
In the State of Florida, bonds purchased from Aaron Notary Appointment Services Inc. are processed and then sent to the Dept. of State, Notary Division. The bond is never sent to you directly. The bond is delivered to the state once your completed application has been sent to us, as the bond form is part of the Florida Notary application. REMOTE ONLINE NOTARY (RON)


On June 7, 2019, HB 409 “Electronic Legal Documents” was signed into laws Chapter 2019-71 and took effect on January 1, 2020, in addition with 1N-7001, Florida Administrative Code. This law authorizes Florida notaries to perform online remote notarizations after the completion of an application and training requirements.  According to the law, any commissioned notary in Florida can apply to become an online notary and to perform an online notarization regardless of the physical location of the principal, provided the notary is physically located in Florida while performing the notarization. Witnesses may be physically present with the principal or by means of audio-video communication technology in conformity with Florida law. Remote Online Notaries must take certain steps to ensure the security of the notarization, including the use of audio-video technology to verify the identity of the principal. Additionally, the entire audio-visual conference session must be recorded and electronic journal shall be maintained for at least 10 years after the date of the notarial act.

Requirements to Become Remote Florida Notary:

•You must be an existing notary public.
•Complete a two hours Remote Online Notary education training and receive a certificate of completion.
•Obtain a $25,000 Notary Bond.
•Obtain a $25,000 Errors and Omissions insurance policy.
•Choose a RON service provider for audio-video communication and identity proofing in compliance with Chapter 2019-71 and 1N-7001, Florida Administrative Code.
•Fill out the Registration Form and have it notarized prior to submission.
